The dates for the Film Programme are Thursday 22, Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October 2026.
WOMEX Film presents documentaries that portray music, movements and histories from across the world. WOMEX offers you, the filmmaker, producer, distributor, an alternative platform to share your work and network with new audiences, curators, festivals, venue managers, among others, further strengthening the conversation between the global music and film community.
Films can be presented in different formats:
Film Library: Independent of scheduled screenings, these films can be watched by delegates on-demand at any time during the Expo. Films can highlight new projects, collaborations as well as previews accompanied by on-topic discussions. All selected films will be part of the Film Library.
Public Screenings: An integral part of the WOMEX Film Programme, inviting local audiences and delegates to experience engaging and thought-provoking films from the world of music cinema. Public Screenings will be voted in by the WOMEX community from the selected film programe.
VirtualWOMEX: An online platform that gives access to curated On Demand content. Selected films are streamed here alongside interviews and contextual information, illuminating the fascinating world of music documentaries through the lens of their creators.

Rules & Regulations:
- Only films with the production year 2025 or 2026 will be considered;
- Only a completed online submission form along with an online preview link will be considered;
- The deadline to complete your submission is Friday, 27 February, 2026;
- The submitted film should be the final screening version. If the film is not finished by the WOMEX submission deadline, a rough-cut or work in progress should be submitted;
- All films must have English subtitles unless the dialogue is in English;
- If the film is selected, an invitation will be sent out notifying the submitter. WOMEX will offer one full accreditation and the film will be featured in all necessary promotional materials;
- On agreement, selected films will additionally have an online screening;
- Films selected for WOMEX 26 will be notified latest by July and all submitted films will be notified latest by September. Please note that we are not able to respond with reviews and feedback for individual films;
- Please note that WOMEX does not pay a screening fee for selected films.
